NPIC to receive funding for THREE government initiatives aimed at faster diagnosis and personalised treatment of cancer

NPIC is to receive funding as part of the government’s “boost for research”, aimed at the early detection and diagnosis of cancer to provide a better service for patients. As part of this investment in life sciences, NPIC are involved in three of the projects.

These collaborations bring together leading institutions across the UK and the investment will build on NPIC’s expertise by scaling up our National clinical and Research in AI capabilities.

NPIC SDE Platform Summary

  • NPIC will receive investment from the government to create a national Digital Pathology research platform.
  • The funding will allow NPIC to develop a proof-of-concept national platform for research
  • The platform will create and share digital pathology image datasets with NHSE sub-national SDEs
Darren Treanor

“NPIC welcomes the new Government’s announcement. The investment in Digital Pathology and working with the National Secure Data Environment (SDE) will accelerate research in artificial intelligence for improving cancer diagnosis for patients.”
