Dr Alyn Cratchley

NPIC Clinical Lead / Consultant Pathologist

NPIC Clinical Team

Gaushiya Saiyad

Alyn is the NPIC Clinical lead alongside being a practicing NHS Consultant Pathologist specialising in liver pathology at The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. In her role as Clinical Lead she works closely with the Deployment Biomedical Scientists and the NPIC Senior Management Team, providing a key link between IT and clinical roles within Pathology, and advising on the use of digital pathology in the clinical environment. She also supports the other themes when required. Alyn is also the Clinical Safety Officer for NPIC, ensuring that the NPIC solution is continually assessed and remains clinically safe to support all of our NHS  Partners using the Digital Pathology solution.

Alyn has been a consultant pathologist since 2019, having completed her histopathology training in the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery. She saw the early adoption of digital pathology in Leeds as a registrar, which influenced her decision to work with NPIC initially as the Lead for Digital Deployment in Leeds during 2019, before becoming involved in the wider deployment of digital pathology across the UK in recent years. She was heavily involved in the testing and transition to a new digital PACS provider (SECTRA) and infrastructure in Leeds in 2020, and has been involved in creating training guides and standard operating procedure documentation.

On the clinical side, Alyn completed digital validation in 2019, and has been primarily reporting digitally since then.
