Dr Gillian Matthews

Gillian is an Innovation Project Manager, supporting NPIC research that uses AI to transform disease diagnosis. She is involved in managing research activities including the development and implementation of novel diagnostic tools, and facilitating collaborative projects between clinicians, academics, and industry.
Gillian’s background is in academic research, in the field of neuroscience. She completed her PhD at Imperial College London and went on to conduct research in the USA, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and the Salk Institute for Biological Studies as a research scientist.
Her research focused on investigating the neural mechanisms underlying different forms of behaviour, using in vivo and in vitro imaging techniques combined with viral and histological labelling, and data-driven approaches.
